REBEKAH SWEYKO-BROWN | SHE/HER

Kansas City University, Class of 2027
Rebekah is currently in her Undergraduate Clinical/OMM Fellowship at Kansas City University - Joplin Campus. Rebekah is from Fort Scott, KS, and received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Missouri Southern State University in 2022. Her professional interests include rural family medicine with an emphasis in LGBTQIA+ health, specifically HIV/AIDS management, obstetrics, preventive medicine and OMT. Outside of academics, Rebekah loves reading, camping, having movie nights with her wife, and playing her dog, Hugo, and snake, Noodle.

Rebecca Canfield | SHE/HER
REGIONAL DIRECTOR
UCLA/Charles Drew University, Class of 2027
Rebecca is a third year medical student at UCLA and concurrently a part of the Charles Drew Medical Education Program. Her experience with LGBTQIA+ advocacy includes serving as the co-president of the PRIDE Alliance at UCLA during her first year of medical school, starting a Rainbow Club for her elementary school students during her time as a teacher, and working as a member of the Gender and Sexuality Commission of the Associated Students of UC Davis as an undergraduate. She is interested in pursing either pediatrics or child psychiatry and enjoys walking her dog, baking, and reading in her free time.

SHANNON CASON | SHE/THEY
REGION DIRECTOR (Region A)
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Class of 2026Shannon is a second-year medical student at the University of Pittsburgh of Medicine. She is originally from Ellicott City, Maryland and has lived everywhere in the DMV. She holds a B.A. Degree in Cognitive Science and Spanish from the University of Virginia. She is professionally interested in OB/GYN with a focus on complex family planning, LGBTQ+ health, and adolescent medicine. Outside of academics, she is a proud plant mom that can be found at any lifting or yoga class around the city.

ELIJAH LASOTA | HE/HIM
REGION DIRECTOR (Region B)
Tulane University School of Medicine
Class of 2024
Elijah is a fourth year MD/MPH student at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at Penn State in Pennsylvania. He then worked for a nonprofit in rural community development in Honduras for two years, before spending two years as a research assistant in Infectious Diseases at Columbia/NYP in New York City. While in NYC, he volunteered with the LGBT Center and implemented a PrEP program at high schools in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. In medical school, he was a leader for his local MSPA chapter and began exploring a variety of avenues for improving care for LGBTQ patients. Outside of clinic and studying, Elijah enjoys roller skating, fitness, stained glass, ceramics, every excuse to take in natural daylight, and anything culinary.You can contact Elijah at elijah.lasota@medpride.org

CAMRYN DAIDONE | SHE/HER
REGION DIRECTOR (Region B)
Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - Louisiana Campus
Class of 2025Camryn is a third-year medical student at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Louisiana. She is originally from Denver, Colorado and completed her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Colorado State University. Camryn helped to found a new chapter of MSPA at her medical school and is heavily involved in the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG). She hoping to pursue a career in providing trauma-informed and gender-affirming reproductive healthcare. Camryn is a proud dog mom to a 6 year old pit bull mix, and she enjoys hiking, skiing, and baking.
